2025 Caterpillar Mining Trucks 798 AC

2025 Caterpillar Mining Trucks 798 AC

The Cat® 798 AC electric-drive truck is designed to haul more ore — with more speed, more stability and more reliability than any other electric-drive truck in the marketplace. And while it may be the newest addition to the Cat ultra-class lineup, it delivers the same powerful, proven performance you expect from a Cat truck. The 798 delivers a full 372-tonne (410-ton) payload, increased speed on grade, more retarding power than competitive trucks, superior brake performance and easier maintenance. The result? High availability, more confident operators and improved productivity.

UP TO 8% BETTER PAYLOAD

Thanks to a lower empty weight, the 798 AC has a higher-rated field payload and higher-rated GMW. In addition to delivering productivity gains, a lighter empty machine weight saves fuel and reduces tire wear

UP TO 8% BETTER SPEED ON GRADE

Thanks to a significant speed advantage, the Cat 798 AC lets you move more over the course of a shift — or move the same amount of material with fewer trucks. When you’re ready to go faster, horsepower can be changed with just a software adjustment over a shift change or lunch break.

40% MORE RETARDING POWER & CLASS-LEADING BRAKING

Four-corner wet disc brakes with blended mechanical service brakes and dynamics deliver stable handling and confident stopping. Automatic Retarding Control makes retarding easier and more efficient and helps ensure the truck remains in the dynamic retarding envelope.

Features may include:

Safety
  • SAFETY-INFUSED
  • Wide access stairways, service platforms for the engine, traction alternator and control cabinet, four corner wet disc brakes, and industry leading retarding.
  • Radial retard grid for improved right-hand view — make the lines darker so you can see where they are pointing.
  • — Wide field of view for greater visibility
  • — Integrated ROPS and FOPS
  • — Traction control
  • — Stored engergy dissipation at shutdown
  • — Anti-rollback
  • — Reverse shift inhibitor
  • — Door sensor warning for park brake application
Performance
  • PROVEN AND WORKING AROUND THE WORLD
  • — Frame design: 18M+ hours
  • — C175 engine: 22M+ hours
  • — Field validation: 46,000+ hours
  • — Highest-hour 798 AC: 15,000+ hours
  • — Electric-drive system: 5M+ hours
  • HAULS MORE, HAULS FASTER
  • — Efficient design delivers higher payload
  • — Optimized drive system integration puts more power to the ground
  • SUPERIOR CONTROLLABILITY
  • Boosts operator confidence:
  • — Strong dynamic retarding
  • — Robust design empowers operator to use oil-cooled brakes regardless of speed or payload
Integration
  • BUMPER-TO-BUMPER CATERPILLAR
  • The individual components, software, systems and engine that go inside a Cat truck have different purposes, but they have one very important thing in common: They are all manufactured by Caterpillar and supported by the Cat dealer network.
  • This integration ensures that the entire truck — from body to bumper, engine to electronics — can be fully optimized to deliver the lowest cost per ton.
